This is the gang of bulbs I chucked in the trash, and then fished out about a week later in a what-the-heck moment. I shoved them in a planter filled mostly with hippeastrum roots. By golly, I think I have three winners out of the batch: the one with the lovely colors and two that threw up multiple flowers per scape on the first blooming.
(So far, I have two keepers out of the batch I always meant to keep. One has small but intensely colored flowers and has put up two scapes, and one that that has four flowers on its scape. These guys are far behind the "rejects" and don't look as healthy. Go figure...)

Those two fat pods in the background are one intentional and one unintentional Apple Blossom fertilization. I may trash the latter. Or maybe not, if the seed is viable.
I expect I'll be through obsessing about these guys in a couple months, once I have germination from all the seeds, or not. Then I settle back to wait till next January.
