I am expecting the flowers on this particular leaf tip to be spectacular in about a week. Clearly the plant is thriving on its diet of special bloom-boosting fertilizer I got from my local pusher.
Over in hippeastrum-land, the Apple Blossom Formerly Known as Pathmark is on its way to finishing. It only had three flowers on the scape this year, one of which opened a whole lot later than the first two, which are curling up and melting. The Gervase (aka the Mutant) is still looking great and its second flower stalk looks as though it will open tomorrow or Sunday -- perhaps I'll have both looking good for at least one magical day. The scape on the second Exotica'stalk looks like it will open up a day or so after Gervase.
Downstairs, the Fairy Tale formerly known as Trader Joe is maturing nicely and should open some time next week. Four seedlings from the Class of 2006 have sent up stalks so far, and one of them has two buds on the scape that are infuriatingly refusing to open.
The Class of 2009, at least thirty members, are gradually recovering from the shock of being repotted and having to support the weight of their own foliage. I still have four runts and am trying to nerve myself to throw them away.
Yesterday I noticed that the hanging basket that contains tradescantia and ipomoea also has one stray pelargonium -- looks like one of those regals I grew last year. Hmmmmm.
