Two peony blossoms are history, another is past its sell-by date, and the third is in full bloom. They didn't last particularly long this year.

Yesterday I moved a volunteer rudbeckia to a gap between the two hostas.

The wisteria is definitely past its prime. It didn't last long once the weather warmed up, alas.

My knee is pretty much recovered, although it seems to be slipping oddly every now and again. On the other hand, I have a niggle in my back and/or my right hip, probably because of favoring the knee all week. Yesterday morning I feared I wouldn't be able to get out of bed. But I did, and I rode five or six miles on my bike.

While out on my bike, I bought, I am sorry to have to admit, some parsley plants. Also some basil so I'll have some while I'm waiting for my seedlings to grow. Also, a better nozzle for our hose. Also some top round cut as London broil for $1.29/lb, and potatoes for $1.49/lb. Imagine that, potatoes costing more than beef...

Today Roy kept me company on the world's stateliest bike ride: ten miles at an average speed of 7.5 mph, stopping to photograph murals and the variegated insanity of South Philly life on a holiday.

No sprouts on the hippeastrum yet, but it's early days. I wouldn't mind if I only had 25% germination instead of the 100% germination I had last time.
