Hippeastrum report, conference musings, and political speech

I counted emergent seedlings this morning. My house-sitter done good and now, out of the 64 hippeastrum seeds I planted a few weeks ago, I have 36 seedlings -- enough to clog my windowsills magnificently for the next three years. I swear that if I ever do this again I'm getting a new bank of grow-lights!
