Jun. 15th, 2010 08:42 pmWhee! The surviving daylily in my backyard is indeed the Martian Invader daylily I rescued at Grovers Mill back in the 1980s. That would be Hemerocallis fulva 'flore plena.' I may have to rescue the few daylilies I planted in a big planter outside the Webster Street house -- the wretched schoolchildren have again snapped off all the buds for the fourth consecutive season. I don't know where I'm going to put them but one is a very pretty peach color with a slight ruffle to its edge, and another is deep blood red edged with gold. Not that I'll get to see the latter this year -- it's the snapped one. Peach lily hasn't sent up buds yet and I'm praying it will hold off until school's out.
