Harper Lee: What If Edition

What if Harper Lee would have liked to publish Go Set a Watchman all along? What if her elder sister the lawyer, the family historian, was also the guardian of the family mythology and discouraged/intimidated Harper Lee from publishing anything else? What if Harper Lee preferred to see Atticus as Scout the young adult saw him, warts and all? What if now, with her sister finally silenced, Lee is free to release her earlier novel, the one she had in her before her publisher dissuaded her, the one her agents encouraged her to polish before submission -- and what if she has now done it gleefully?

I suppose we'll never know.
