There was a massive water main break two blocks from our house, spewing massive cataracts into the street, threatening to flood basements and knocking out the water pressure for our entire neighborhood and parts of deeper south Philadelphia and the pricey Center City neighborhoods. I wonder how long it will take them to get it under control. We had a trickle of water coming through about half an hour ago so I filled up water bottles etc and took a sponge bath in half a small sinkful of cold water.

Good thing Roy is in Virginia, driving home tomorrow. He can take a nice shower at the hotel and, if necessary, stop somewhere well out of the emergency zone and buy enough potable water to get us through a couple of days.

Poor Scamp. The toilets will be off limits for the duration and he'll have to drink from a water bowl.

Is the trickle of water coming out of the faucet safe to drink? Or are you boiling it to be sure?

Let's hope it was safe to drink, because I drank it!
