It was indeed wonderful. I took my friend Tommy Emmanuel with me (got 2.9 hours of twelve-fingered goodness on my cellphone) and tackled a half-mile hill as part of a 16-mile ride (mostly slow, mostly on level ground). I watched turtles basking in the Schuylkill, saw a beautiful Franklinia in bloom, and sat outside the Horticultural Center on a bench watching the soothing if nondescript fountain splashing into the reflecting pool. Now I'm limp as a noodle but caffeine will prepare me for my dinner date with an old flame.
I've also done two small sessions of callus maintenance, including one on the old nylon string guitar. I was surprised by how much volume I'm getting out of it now. Fighting with the beater guitar up here on the third floor must be giving me finger muscles.
