I saw one of the wretched things today, buzzing around a Schlumbergera on the third-floor landing. I haven't missed that plant once in my five weeks of Mort Aux Fungus Gnats. I zapped the little bugger with pyrethrins, but still...

I wail. I gnash my teeth. Are these guys immune to Bacillus thuringensis? Please, please, please, let them just be a couple of bitter enders!

No wailing or gnashing of teeth required. It could be a straggler, already on its last legs when you murdalized it; and if the worst case is true, that the gnats are immune, what you need is more information, not wailing. Get the to the Google!

That said, I really do sympathize. It's very frustrating when a tried-and-true looks like it might no longer be true.
