It was as sunny this morning as it was that November day. I woke up and remarked on that to myself and then has a strong sense that it's time to move on from the grieving place. Especially since I've been (over)eating since six months ago today.

I'm continuing to go through possessions and send some to the charity box, some to the trash can. A lot of it has been file cleaning. Articles that I saved because I might want to read them some day. Brochures that I kept because they had nice pictures and might eventually become part of a decoupage project. Never mind that I lost interest in decoupage about six years ago.

It's therapeutic. Seeing space in my closet is very nice. And I feel positively liberated at chucking the "stepmother of the groom" dress, which I absolutely loathed, into the Salvation Army pile. Good riddance!

I think I have two more hippeastrums sprouting. I moved a hanging plant outside today. As soon as Roy finishes a piece of stuff that I need to proofread, I plan to go out into the sunshine and play.

I need to do my own liberation therapy and clean out massive amounts from my closets. The problem is motivating myself to start.

My trick to get me going is: never tell myself I'm going to do the whole job. Instead, I'm going to see if I can find one thing to ditch. Sometimes one is all I'm up for. Other times once I'm launched I'm good to go for some time.

I'm now casting an appraising eye on a piece of furniture I think I'd be well rid of, if only I could find space for its contents.

Sounds like we're in parallel cleaning out universes. I have an old china cabinet, drawers, shelves unit (all in one) I'd love to dump. But there is so much in it...

I have a beautiful curved glass china closet, c. 1903, that is filled with family Limoges and I have no intention of dumping that. But there's an ugly laminate-on-chipboard printer stand that was fugly when we bought it in 1985 and hasn't improved over the past 27 years. If I ditched it I could reach my other shelves...
