Metamorphosis, Interrupted

Here's a series of photos, over three days, showing the progress from the possible impalement on the Sempervivum to the final fall from the oak sapling.

September 1, afternoon

September 2, 9:30 a.m. -- still twitching a little

September 2, 2:30 p.m., no longer moving

September 2, 4:50 p.m. -- stiff and hard

September 3, 9:45 a.m. -- decomposition well advanced
That's it. I have no caterpillar, no pupa, no butterfly, and precious little remaining parsley. If any of these guys show up again, I'm going to nip them in the egg -- or at least the second instar.
