I've been threatening to do this for a very long time:

I just ordered a set of progressive bifocals, with extra magnification in the lower area so that I can do fine work and my distance prescription at the top so that I can watch TV. From Zenni Optical. For less than $50 delivered.

Not sure about that yet, but I certainly like the idea of an inexpensive set of backup specs. If I hadn't sprung for progessives they'd have been even cheaper!
