Happy Easter to all, whether it is for you the feast of the Resurrection or an excuse for wanton chocolate consumption (or just another Sunday).

We continue to improve the atmosphere around the house. I've washed a big load of Animal Linen (two cat beds, a doggie afghan, and the Petting Apron). All of the pieces still have a fair amount of animal hair on them, but I assume that animal hair stripped of its dander by a cycle in the washer is less pernicious, allergy and asthma wise. We bought two cat beds for Ferko, which the Scamp very kindly respected as her territory after being roundly chastised on the occasion of his first usurpation. I've spotted those in places he likes to lie where his black hair is easily noticed.

[I was just interrupted by a rustling followed by a plaintive wail from behind my credenza and jumped until I realized it was the Scamp and not the Vengeful Ghost of Ferko. He got himself into a place where the exit wasn't terribly apparent. Is he looking for her? More likely, he's just venturing into formerly forbidden territory....]

We also moved the stove away from the wall in the upstairs kitchen. Several families of mice could have nested in the thick mat of dog and cat hair that had accumulated there. I think of kitchen appliances as immovable objects, so the ease with which Roy gave it a shove and got it a good 6" out from the wall. It was also a surprise to see that the stove is essentially a hollow metal shell with some gas pipes.

The day before yesterday we pulled the hostas out of the corner where they'd been in their milk crates and pots for a couple of years. We thought they might enjoy getting rained on. Today's a nice sunny day after two rainy ones and they are indeed happy as can be. The curly willow is putting out leaf/stem buds all over the place below the places where I'd cut them off. Next year I'll take the top off the tree.

I'm looking at the elm that I plan to sacrifice and thinking that I can probably get a really nifty walking stick out of it.

A load of darks is in the washer and the really really dirty whites are soaking in a little bit of hot water and an entire load's worth of laundry liquid.

We're only walking Mr. Darcy on nice days now. On crummy days we stay in and play "find the toy" for 20 minutes. We put him in the down/stay in the dining room and then I hide his toy somewhere in the living room. He really likes it.

We still make him talk like a pirate to get his ice cube at dinner time but given the situation with the Somali pirates our heart isn't in it.
