Barack Obama Mural on Hope Street

Couldn't they wait until Obama has actually like, you know, done something?

Update: This next is not a snark, but a scary thought. A Philadelphia sidewalk vendor is also selling framed "hero" portraits of the sort some folks hang on their living room walls or place in their front windows -- including an all-in-one of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Barack Obama. That one made me shiver, given that two of the three were shot dead. I'm not happy about an Obama presidency, but an Obama martyrdom would be a horrible thing -- in and of itself because it's just plain wrong, and for the terribly divisive outcome such an event would bring.

Agreed, on all points.

Change...

3 former Fannie Mae CEOs.
1 former Freddie Mac CEO.
A Clinton administration functionary for AG (Eric Holder)
Tom Daschle for "health tzar"

I wonder how many other established politicians, power brokers and influence peddlers we'll see in the cabinet.

A move out of the city is now definitely on the table for us. We continue to hope that it won't be necessary, but some days I worry about being cut off from the food supply. Out of the city, there's always butter beans (and perhaps a small flock of Leghorns) in the back yard.

That's very interesting. I'm not yet ready to build a bunker, but having a month's food supply (or more) on hand makes pragmatic good sense, if only to cushion us against a few weeks where nothing is on special.

(I haven't seen the Matrix and wasn't up for watching the YouTube clip referenced in Commander Z's current entry.)

Comment #2. I haven't been connecting the dots on Fannie/Freddie alums in the cabinet. Do you happen to have a link?

I couldn't agree more. Obama is untested. It's far too early to make a saint of him.

And never is a good time to make a martyr out of him, for reasons both of decency and simple pragmatism.

JFK was actually no great shakes as a president, to my way of thinking, and wouldn't be on anyone's list of important folks if he hadn't been assassinated. And the blowback from an Obama assassination would be something I don't want to see.
