It doesn't look lopsided here either, very pretty!

I rotated the photo and now it looks fine.

Love it, love it. I just bought some thread and small metal hooks to start a tablecloth myself.

I love fine work. I am having a special pair of bifocals made, next time I can afford to spend a few bucks, with extra magnification in the lower part. My ophthalmologist wrote me the prescription after testing me with some lenses to make sure I knew what I was asking for.

EDIT: a tablecloth...that will keep you harmlessly occupied for a good number of weeks or months or years. Which is why I do a lot of work with fine thread; it keeps the cost of crocheting reasonable.

I like working with thread, both crochet and tatting, but due to the fine work, I can't do it for great lengths of time to spare both my eyesight and my hands, so it's definitely start-stop projects. I've been working on a tablecloth for years in a pattern called Queen Anne's Lace that was originally started by my grandmother, worked on by my mother and I hope to finish it before I die.

I'd love to see the pattern (what a piece of it looks like, not "ch 6; sl st in first ch to form ring)."

The tablecloth is still packed away, but here is a link for Queen Anne's Lace

Oh, yes. I remember that one: my mother bought me a tablecloth in that pattern in a thrift shop. It had a great big gaping hole in it as through maybe a couple of large dogs had been fighting over it. She assumed I could fix it, but of course there was no way I could match the thread size or color. But I did what any good daughter would do under the circumstances: thanked her, then put it on the table for one dinner with the big fugly spot covered with a decorative mat.

Pretty! I don't think the photo looks lopsided.

Yeah. After I read that, I rotated the photo so that the spokes weren't askew. That helped a lot. I should edit the original entry.

Interesting that rotation should matter so much.

that is beautiful. I don't have the patience to do that small needle work (afghans, on the other hand...). My great-grandmother made countless doilies, tablecloths, and pillow trim. My mother sold the lot at an estate sale. grrr.

If you think of a doily as one of those trendy new round afghans in miniature it might make more sense. Doilies give you a lot of bang for the crocheting-supply buck, too.
