Clear and cooler

The sky is mostly blue this morning, with puffy clouds off to the west. We had a clearing storm last night around 11:00 and now the cold front is settling in.
Judging by the rattling of the panes, I'd say it's going to be pretty windy out today. I think I'll try a little bike ride anyhow.
I dug out the fabric for the stepmother/stepdaughter aprons. Can't find the pattern but I do have another apron cut out, so I'll use that. I found the pincushion, too. Now all I need is the motivation... I've always wanted to love to sew, but the plain truth is that I hate machine sewing and I haven't got time for hand-sewing on these two. Bleah. (Edit: I cut the two aprons over the weekend but am not yet motivated to find the iron on interfacing or drag out sewing machine, ironing board and iron.)
I seem to have chased a couple folks off my mutual friends' list, probably by being a bit too vocal about my political convictions recently. Or perhaps I'm simply a casualty of folks' friends housekeeping, nothing personal intended. In any case, I certainly hope that being forthright hasn't run anyone off the ranch. I thought I was keeping teh snark reasonably under control and/or behind cut tags.
LATER: the sunlight was a fleeting visitor. The clouds are rolling in. I felt the need to play with some plants, so I gave my Tradescantia zebrina a haircut and potted up the cuttings, for use outside next year. I also finally disambiguated my Tradescantia, meaning that I looked up their real names. The fleshy purple one that I scored when a heavy rain knocked a bit off a planter outside Meritage Restaurant is Tradescantia pallida and the stripey iridescent one is Tradescantia zebrina.
There was an article in today's Washington Post that I found interesting:
Five Myths About an Election of Mythic Proportions
It suggests that some folks' fears of the coming New Deal On Steroids (that would be mine) may be greatly exaggerated. I hope they're right.
I had a last-minute change of heart about the regal pelargonium 'Maiden Iced Wine' and now there are four cuttings rooting in a pot on the upstairs kitchen windowsill. The scented pelargonium cuttings I took last week appear to have rooted already.

Date: 2008-11-16 04:14 pm (UTC)I probably consider our greatest political difference to be (let's call it what it is): socialized medicine. Otherwise - and forgive if I'm being too Pollyanna-ish - I think we have more views in common than different. Aside from that one little government handout I so fervently wish for, I hate taxes and Big Brother at least as much as you do. ;)
Stay warm! No freezing weather in sight here...days in the 50s, nights in the 40s.

There are so many reasons for defriending, though, many of them benign.
