After Irene

The place where I thought about riding my bike yesterday was under water in places. You can see a wee bit of the bike path on the lower right hand corner. The line of posts over toward the right is the regular shoreline. The "canal" on the left is actually the CSX railroad. Yeah, we had some flooding in Philly. The Schuylkill came up over the roads in several places.

I detoured from an errand an hour or so ago to check on this spot -- actually, I rode the bike trail about as far as the bridge pictured here. The sun is shining and the volunteers have almost cleaned up all the river debris. It smells like river mud, though.


I wonder if the composting toilet (which you can't see because it's right behind the bridge) had its, ummm, contents washed away.
