Philadelphia is largely dug out from the snowfall that stopped us for two days, although my trusty #17 bus is now running on 22nd Street instead of 20th.

Today I had a pleasant encounter with my squirrel. He was about 8 feet down from the property line, studiously ignoring me even though I waved a peanut aloft and then settled it in the fork of the elm tree. Suddenly he turned, looked straight at me, and hopped back to the tree (with me a scant three feet away) to retrieve the peanut.

This is the first day that the sidewalks have been truly passable. It's intermittently sunny and I have hopes that the snow will start to melt. I think a trip to the #17 bus may be called for.
