Hippeastrum
Jan. 7th, 2010 10:55 amI potted up my two new hippeastrum (gervase and exotica). Gervase was potted Jan 5; exotica was potted this morning.
Both bulbs had rusty spots on them. I read that amaryllis make rusty spots in response to injury and that it's not necessarily a sign of the dreaded fungus / blight / whatever. We'll see.
No real signs of life on the bulbs that got their warm water bath last week. Three possibilities: it was too cold in Anderson House and they're dead; the warm water bath was too much heat too soon after bringing in and they're dead and/or shellshocked; I'm impatient.
