Christmas is coming...
Dec. 4th, 2009 06:09 pmAnd fourteen of my fifteen Schlumbergera truncata are going to have finished blooming before it gets here, alas.
We still haven't had a killing frost and I have seven green tomatoes on the vines out back. The frost is due this weekend, though. Because of the South Philly heat island effect, we get our frost later than the surrounding communities. Our little yard is slow to warm, though, air-wise, in the spring because it faces north and doesn't get any sun until later.
Come spring, when it's not too hot to swing a sledge-hammer and when the urge to garden is strongest, we'll rid ourselves of some more concrete and I'll plant my little maple tree in the ground at last. Mr. Willow stays in his pot, though.
Roy has made his corrections to our Christmas card spreadsheet, so I can print address labels for our motley assortment of leftover cards. We decided this was the year to clean up the leavings. I hope no one gets the same card two years in a row. Will anyone notice? Will anyone care?
The weather is due to be cold and crummy tomorrow, but I have a warm coat and a bus pass. Whee! Shopping will happen... maybe springerle, too.
