D-Day and Lincoln Day

A blog post over at Classical Values reminded me of the nature of memory.

The battle of Gettysburg was as far away from D-Day in time as for the young men fighting there as D-Day is from the present. The remaining veterans are very old and soon D-Day will be part of the history books in the way that Gettysburg is.

We need to remember history, and learn from it.
