The only perishable item I needed from the supermarket was a head of lettuce. I was mostly stocking up on paper products, cleaning products, and canned goods.

So I ordered online. $140 worth of the above-mentioned, designed to get us through till early fall. And the delivery charge? A whopping $10. They're supposed to deliver the stuff between 5 and 7 this evening.

You didn't know about ordering online like that or you had just never thought to do so? It sure makes perishable shopping a lot easier because you don't have to lug bulk along with it.

I knew, but this is the first time my order was 99.999% non-perishable. I like to look over the meats and produce myself, so I usually take the bus over. But I may do this hybrid thing from now on.

I tend to do that kind of shopping every 5-6 months, although no delivery here.

When Roy rented a car for business more often, that's how I did it -- mega shop supplemented by grocery cart fill-ins. With our temperatures soaring right now, I couldn't face waiting for the bus in the heat, even though I could ride home in their air-conditioned courtesy van.
