It was sl 2 k1 p2sso. The base of the fan in the photo looks suspiciously like one knit surrounded by increases and decreases. Maybe the photos actually belong to another pattern!
I actually count the stitches every repeat.
EDIT: Aha. I think maybe I haven't been slipping properly.
