Nopalxochia pollination experiment
Apr. 9th, 2016 04:26 pmIt didn't work the first time I tried it, but that's no reason not to try it again. One of the flowers was willing to shed pollen on my fingertip; the other had an open style. If it takes, I should get a fruit that in due course will produce seeds -- say, in a year or so.
If it doesn't set seed, there will be no trace of these guys in a few days. The one on the left is starting to droop already.
[Edited to add: it didn't work.]
