I told myself that April would be the last month that I buy a monthly transpass. I should be able to get around on a combination of walking, biking, and using a token for the bus between now and the time I get my geezer pass in August.

Trouble is, I haven't been biking much these past few months. It has been so seductively nice to just hop on the bus. I've done a couple of measly rides in the past two weeks, so today I decided to do ten level miles. Which I did, and now I'm ready for my nap. I mean, I'm as limp as ten-minute linguine. Nothing hurts, at least not yet, but I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open. I'd been cutting out the afternoon coffee for the last week or two, but not today. I'm hoping that a cup or two will perk me up.

Roy left for Atlanta and a conference today. He'd been railing about the perfidy of the Administration that chose to take its cut on the FAA budget by furloughing air traffic controllers for the past week, but texted me to say the security line had been short and there were no delays in take-off or landing. I think he spent more time this past week fretting about the flight than he spent in the airports or in the air.

I ordered Life of Pi from Netflix but was strangely reluctant to watch it. A few days ago I found a used copy at the new used-book-store that opened in our neighborhood. I got as far as The Teachable Moment For Young Boys At The Zoo (which will mean something to those who read the book and, if it made it to film, who saw the movie, but shouldn't work as a spoiler). Now I'm not sure I want to read the rest of the book -- that was pretty disturbing.

On a happier note, here's a photo of the general splendor of yesterday's street fair.

And here's the 2013 equivalent of a Flower Child:

Finally, behold the glorious maple! Photo by Roy.
