It's not too cold, not too windy, and not raining, so I think I'll pedal off to the Wal*Mart and see if any bottled water or any AA batteries remain on the shelves. Wal*Mart has a pretty good disaster-preparedness supply chain, so they might be ready for a run on the stuff. Another gallon or two of purchased water (as opposed to water drawn from the tap) would make me feel a trifle more secure. Ditto for batteries, although I'm very well supplied with candles. It has occurred to me that it might be more pleasant to have a battery-operated radio than to spend a lot of time cranking the thing.
