A thirty-five mile weekend
Aug. 5th, 2012 12:21 pmTwenty-one miles, some hilly, yesterday. Fourteen level miles today. I chased down and scolded a group of four bicycle policemen who were riding like scofflaws -- four abreast in a traffic lane instead of the bike lane, running red lights, one without his helmet. They claimed they had to break the law because they were late "for a detail." Rubbish, said I. If a fat old lady can outride them they're certainly not hurrying to a work assignment; and, besides, that excuse wouldn't keep me from getting a ticket. They looked amused/bemused, but ostentatiously signaled for a left turn when our paths diverged.
