RIP hippeastrums

I put the diseased hippeastrums in a trash bag this evening and Roy took it to the curb.

I found myself wondering if they were frightened in the dark bag without the security of their pot and if they'd have a long lingering painful death suffocating in a trashbag in a landfill, or whether they'd be crushed quickly in the garbage truck.

I may be too attached to my plants.

The Trader Joe bulb had been with me since December 2003 and the Apple Blossoms since, I think, 2005.
