Grr. I was looking at my infected hippeastrums on the second floor and saw a fungus gnat marching up one of the leaves. Fungus gnats are supposed to be "weak fliers," whatever that means, but I don't want any of the little buggers flying weakly up to the third floor.

I just mixed up another gallon of biological death to do the sitting room plants and, if I have enough, the bedroom and bathroom plants.

I suppose I really should do the few first-floor plants as well. Mercifully, there are only three small ones.

(UPDATE: All done. I *shall* overcome these!)

EDITED TO ADD: One of the offsets on the Christmas 'papilio' just started putting out a fourth leaf. I learn a lot about my plants in the course of giving them a daily fungus gnat inspection. Both of my yearling 'mandoni' have declined to drop all their leaves, and in fact have put out additional leaves, for a total of four each. I take that as a positive sign. It appears that the final count of 'papilio' x 'emerald' is going to be eight. Most of them are putting up second leaves now. When they all have I'll start feeding them, as soon as Operation Fungus Gnat is finished. I have no idea how BT and Miracle-Gro might interact.
