Miniature rose

I have this barely-pink miniature rose. It was one of my $1 Pathmark rescues some years ago and it has survived being in a big planter over the winter for several winters. The flowers are a good size for a miniature -- more than 2" across. But what is that green stuff in the center? It looks like an alien.

I still have that Roy Orbison earworm and feel a mild obsession coming on. Last night I actually picked up the guitar and picked out the bass line for "Oh, Pretty Woman." I don't especially want to have a Roy Orbison obsession so I think I will listen to my Pandora classical station for its curative powers.

Roy's leaving for another short trip. Should I start "Lost: Season 1?" No, I don't think so...
