Being a bunch of stuff I wanted to write down. Some of it may even be interesting.

First off, it isn't always about me. That board chair who avoided eye contact was having a miserable time, having had to lay off a very senior person just that day. No wonder she didn't want to look at me -- or anyone else, for that matter.

Second, I had meetings all over town yesterday and rode my bike. Somewhere during Trip Segment #3 I found my biking legs again, sort of, meaning that I managed a gentle incline without dying. I also got all brave and stuff and took the Nikon along and took pictures in bad neighborhoods. Without anyone riding shotgun. And did not get robbed. So there.

Third, I forgot all about my iris, which had been sitting in a bag in the vestibule since Sunday afternoon. So I planted them in the twilight -- six or seven back in the barrel, the rest in a planter out back here. I will be watching them for aphids etc. and will spray with Chemical Stuff from Hell if I see any. But until I'm sure they're disease free and likely to live I don't think I'll be sending them out to anyone.

Finally, I think I'm ready to pay more attention to fragrance in our back yard. Funny how having a large dog who needed to use the space to relieve himself made me not pay much attention to the smells. But the pansies, the wisteria, and the peonies have all been putting out the scent. The wisteria is blooming in a sort of wave, from the sunniest spots to the less sunny, and it has reached the spot directly over my chair. Bliss. On my way uptown yesterday morning I was smacked in the face by a wonderful smell that for a moment I couldn't place until I realized duh, it's a rosebush. A rather ordinary climber but oh, the smell. I think I want one. I might eve pay cash money for it, gasp!

EDITED TO ADD: The first rose campion opened yesterday. A clash of strong colors when seen against the oenothera.
