An afternoon at the shore

It was actually a fairly brief visit to the shore of the Delaware River out behind the airport. The wind was so fierce that it was blowing up pretty respectable whitecaps. We walked a bit with the wind at our backs, then clambered up the bank and across the railroad tracks where the wind wasn't as strong for the trip back.Last time I was here with a camera, October 2007, I photographed a pod of arrowhead arum. This time, I found a sprouted seed, but by the time I brought it home its roots had shriveled, so I decided not to pot it up. After all, what would I do with an aquatic plant in my little back yard?
We moved from the river shore to the shore of a tidal marsh at the Tinicum Wildlife Refuge, just across the airport from the Delaware. If you click the photo here and navigate to the set, you'll find as the first image a Google map with the areas labeled.
Last night we watched Where the Wild Things Are. It was not my cup of tea.
