Grand-daughter and flowers
Apr. 11th, 2010 10:13 pmWe put the grand-daughter on a plane back to Atlanta early yesterday and went straight to Longwood Gardens. About 275 frames later we stopped at the chichi garden center to pick up more of their fabulous planting mixture (and I bought two more market packs of pansies -- O the extravagance!), and then I went to Macy's to re-shoot the Flower Show, including Michael Bruce's "arrangement of the day," which wasn't especially to my taste.
The blue flag iris are putting on quite a show in my front barrel. They're pretty ordinary German bearded iris, but they have Provenance -- they're from the community garden. I believe that everyone who wanted some got some, but if there are more takers, speak up. They are overcrowded and the barrel is rotting, so some iris surgery will be taking place along about May 15. I will have more overflow than I can comfortable stow out back.
We spent the day at Longwood Gardens again today, plus a trip to another garden center to pick up some inexpensive bamboo garden stakes. Photos will eventually be posted.
