A week of glorious sunshine
Mar. 19th, 2010 09:33 amSunshine -- we has it!
The hippeastrum report: first bloom on 'exotica' is starting to look a wee bit ratty. First bloom on Pathmark Rescue is ready to unfurl; first bloom on 'gervase' isn't too far behind.
The Nopalxochia report: the first bloom totally deflated in a period of 24 hours, probably because it's getting strong morning sun. I took it off this morning and on a lark decided to try freeze-drying it.
No germination on impatiens yet. Well, it's early, and until a couple days ago that windowsill was awfully cold.
This weekend we have great gardening plans. Break up concrete, plant a tree in the soil in the backyard (whee). Install either a nice big ornamental container or a less grand whiskey barrel out front -- the one we have there now has rotted through, but we have another in reserve. Over the course of this spring, I'd like us to lose a good chunk of the concrete remaining in the lower garden.
The rooted cuttings I planted earlier this week all seem to be doing fine.
