A surfeit of Swayze
Sep. 23rd, 2009 12:37 pmActually, it's a surfeit of cardboard villains in North and South. A whole lot of this series looks suspiciously like Gone With the Wind meets Dynasty. It's a pernicious distraction from the principal story arc of two decent and principled (although sometimes wrongheaded) folks who have to choose sides.
Anyhow, I've had enough. The next episode will reprise the Battle of Gettysburg, and I'll watch that. Then it can go back to the Union League library and I don't think I'll buy it. I've seen just about as much of Terry Garber as I can stand.
Besides, I've learned that the Patrick Swayze character is going to be stabbed by the head bad guy somewhere in Book 3. Never mind. I'd rather watch Swayze roller skate, although he is a superb horseman and that part of this series, along with his swordplay, are wonderful to watch.
