Saving Philadelphia II
Feb. 17th, 2009 09:06 amIf the average price of a latte is $5 (which I understand it is), and if Roy and I both had daily latte habits (which we don't), we'd be saving $3,650 a year by not drinking the stuff. That would be a nice chunk of change to give to our favorite charities. I will ponder that as my benchmark.
Meanwhile, the sun is shining this morning. It also shined yesterday and the day before. Today the highs are supposed to be in the 40s. This will be a good day to devote a piece of my lunch hour to shoveling leaves and other debris out of the gutters in front of our house and also to sweeping the sidewalk. The trash folks come tomorrow so they can take it away.
I understand our mayor is contemplating the privatization of trash collection. I think he should go one step further and make people pay for it, same as many folks do in the burbs. (We always had to pay something like $200/year to have our trash hauled away.)
