Windowsill gardening

2010-10-06_01impatiensThese were so pretty a minute ago, with fleeting early morning golden sunlight backlighting them. The one on the right is actually a garish magenta, but in this light it's a warmer color. I will probably separate these and label them as to color, then cut off the flowers so that the cuttings will feel the imperative to root instead.

Busy days ahead. In the face of impending deadlines, I spent yesterday....cleaning my office! My mind feels wonderfully uncluttered as a result. Perhaps it will take longer for me to revert to my usual messy state than at prior cleanings. Not that I'm finished, no indeedy. All I did was throw away enough stuff from drawers that I could shove the papers on the principal horizontal surfaces into folders and shove *them* into drawers instead. Some secondary piles remain, and triage in preparation for carting records to the archives is yet to be done. Bleah.

The last snowflakes are blocked and the equipment (washcloth now impregnated with starch, cork board, jar of pushpins) are put away.

And now to work!
