So that I'm not totally jonesing, these plants have obligingly burst into bloom for me. The Nopalxochia is just hitting its stride; the first flower is fully open and another isn't too far behind. Looking at this plant, with the memory of Mrs. Hamilton's plant firmly in my mind, I would say the irismoonlight plant offers the more spectacular bloom. It may be a different cultivar; I'm not up on the ins and outs of that.

And the first stalk of Hippeastrum 'exotica' is in its full glory, with another behind that, plus two stalks from 'gervase' on the way. I think it's possible that the 'gervase' may pop open this week.

You know what I really like about this picture? I took it while seated in my office chair. Whenever I need a little pick-me-up, I just slide my eyes over to the left a smidge...

How about your bazillions of bulbs? Have any of them come up?

One iris, the one that always comes up first.

Usually the narcissus blooms before the iris, but this year, there are a few flower stalk with nothing on them. It looks like something ate the flowers. They haven't bloomed since they were divided.

I do have a few wildflowers in my back yard.

What planting zone is Austin? Do amaryllis grow in the ground there?
