Burglar Shot Dead -- Just Around the Corner
We heard the news choppers last night-- in fact, I watched them from my office window -- and knew something was up. From the CBS-TV website, which erroneously reports this as a home invasion. Whatever we call it, it's too close for comfort: one block down and half a block over. I know folks who live on that block.
Home Invasion Suspect Killed In South Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A suspect was fatally wounded during an apparent home invasion in South Philadelphia Thursday night.
Police were called to the 1900 block of Montrose Street after reports of a break-in just before 10:30 p.m.
Inside the home, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was later pronounced dead.
While the incident remains under investigation, preliminary reports said the homeowner discovered an intruder on the second floor. The two men struggled down to the floor, where the homeowner fired one shot at the suspect, striking him in the chest.
Police said there are no criminal charges against the homeowner at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
The NRA sticker and the big dog are awfully consoling after news like this.
